In search of life on another planet, we have now reached about 6.6 Billion km far from our little world. There is much more to reveal in our universe. Many of the international organizations are working in search of life.
ISRO, NASA, CNSA, SpaceX and many more agencies are working reluctantly to make us believe that we are not alone in this universe. In this search itself, NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) has made a new record in going farthest from our world.
What is Ultima Thule
Snowman or Ultima
It is located in the outermost regions of the Solar System, beyond the orbit of Neptune. On Jan 1, 2019, it flew away from the Ultima Thule from 3500 km and took its photos through a Hubble Space Telescope.
According to sources, Ultima Thule measures approximately 31 km in diameter and is like a snowman. Its more like two independent bodies joined together, with an irregular shape. It gets 0.005% of the sun rays. It has an icy surface with a red color. It reflects about 15% of the light rays on its surface.
What is NASA’s New Horizons?
New Horizons is the space probe which was launched as a part of NASA’s New Frontier Program. It was launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station by an Atlas V rocket on 16th Jan 2006 with a speed of about 16.26 kilometers per second.
Space probe had a primary mission of about only 9.5 years, but it has completed about 13 years in space. It takes about 6 hours for its radio signal to reach Earth. It will approximately take about 20 months to transmit all the data on New Horizons stored.
Now, almost 11 kg of fuel is reserved in the spacecraft, which can be used till 2030. New Horizons is now moving with a velocity of 14 km/s.
NASA’s space probe “New Horizons” is now the farthest world ever visited by a spacecraft.
We hope that it explores the unexplored at its best and show us some of the rarest form of our universe.
